Eucalyptus erythrocorys

Red cap gum

Common: Red cap gum
Family: Myrtaceae
Origin: Native to Australia
Temperature: Hardy to 24 degrees
Light: Full sun
Soil: Any soil
Water: Low water

Fast growing to 25 feet. Medium green leaves of medium texture. Red buds are followed by flowers in yellow clusters, arriving in summer months. Red caps fall from tree as yellow flowers appear.

The woody seed capsules that result from the flowers may stay on the tree for years, until they dry out enough to release their contents.

One of Australia's many native gum trees, so-called because of their sticky, aromatic sap.
