Grows to more than 50 ft., with 10 to 15 ft. spread. Moderate growth rate.

Handsome, stately, difficult to transplant when large.

Pinnate leaves, shed cleanly. Feathery leaves on mature trees are 8-10 ft. long, green above and gray-green beneath.

Smooth green trunk, predominantly ringed. Where winds are strong, plant in lee of buildings to prevent damage.

Young trees can't take frost, but mature plants may stand 28 degrees F.

Poor drought resistance, and salt intolerant.

Clustered pink to amethyst colored flowers.
