Showy plant with upward herbaceous stems. Perennial.

Adapted in all climates, reaching 2-1/2 to 3 feet tall. Dark green foliage, narrow 1-2" wide, 1-1/2 to 2 ft. long leaves.

Flower in mid spring; all colors but pure red and green. Some with patterns of two colors or more.

Remontant irises flower in mid to late summer, fall or winter, depending on climate and variety. Some are ever-blooming in mild climates.

Irises that grow from rhizomes (thickened, modified stems) may have bearded, beardless or crested flowers.
