Eucalyptus spathulata

Origin: Native to Australia. Occurs from arid to monsoon tropical areas.

Water: Tolerates much or little water.

Versatile. Bushy wind screen. Branches move nicely in breeze. Good desert plant.

Small, erect, multi-trunked tree, 6 to 20 feet. Ribbonlike leaves, 2 to 3 inches long. Smooth red bark.

Cream and gold flowers open in summer from long, oval buds. Bellshaped seed capsuled. Tolerates poor soil drainage. Mallee types are low growing and have a number of stems rising from a bulbous rootstock called a lignotuber.
